Answer: MDAC is a Microsoft Windows component required for VCM to operate. It has been reported that this error may be related to an improper Windows XP SP2 installation.
Solution: Try downloading and installing Microsoft Data Access Component 2.7 from Microsoft website.
Solution: Un-install Microsoft Windows Service Pack 2 and re-install. - Updated: September 7, 2006
VCM is designed to operate on a LAN with no port blocking (Firewall) whatsoever. VCM utilizes Dynamic port assignment for both TCP & UDP network traffic and for that reason any LAN firewalls must have the following application overrides; Server: Norserv.exe, Call BR.exe, ServSB.exe, MailSrv.exe
This error is caused by not having a free LAN CTE license on the BCM.
Solution: Log into Unified Manger on the BCM. Click on "Services" then "Lan CTE Configuration". Be sure that "Alow Lan CTE Desktop Clients" is enabled. Click on "Licensing Information" tab and be sure that "Permanent Licenses" is greater than "# of Active Lan CTE Desktops" - Updated: January 5, 2005
There is a communication problem between VCM software and the Norstar.
S: Check to see if a firewall has been installed on the VCM server. VCM cannot operate with a firewall enabled. Firewalls can be checked within the network settings of the operating system or in some cases within Firewall or Anti-Virus software installed on the computer.
S: Verify your CTA has connectivity with the Norstar by checking that a Norstar telephone works in the CTA phone output port.
S: Try another communications port on the computer. Try temporarily disabling any internal modems that may conflict with the Com port. If a conflict exists, contact your computer Administrator to resolve it.
S: There may be some corruption to do with Norstar and the ability for CTA to communicate. Reboot the Norstar during non business hours.
The CTA may not be connected to an active telephone port. Please verify that a Norstar telephone works in the telephone output from the CTA hardware device.
Communication to the CTA (Computer Telephony Adapter) hardware is not possible.
S: Check that you have an available Com port properly configured in Windows Device Manager. Check that the supplied serial cable is securely connected between the CTA device and the computer. Check that the red power LED is lit on the CTA 100 hardware. Restart computer
S: Determine the correct CTA hardware device that you have. From the CD select Install, then CTA Drivers, then choose the one that matches your hardware. CTA 100 is the most common used.
S: Download & Install LanCte client from the BCM Unified Manager. Restart the computer and launch VCM server again. **************************************************
LANCTE client License may not be available on the BCM
S: Speak with your phone dealer about installing a Lan CTE key-code for a “Try & Buy” or purchased LanCte client License.
