1. I get an error when trying to load my VCM client stating; “Information; MDAC component 2.7 not installed properly”. - Top

Answer: MDAC is a Microsoft Windows component required for VCM to operate. It has been reported that this error may be related to an improper Windows XP SP2 installation.

2. What ports do I need open for VCM to operate on my Network? - Top

VCM is designed to operate on a LAN with no port blocking (Firewall) whatsoever. VCM utilizes Dynamic port assignment for both TCP & UDP network traffic and for that reason any LAN firewalls must have the following application overrides;
Server:
Norserv.exe, Call BR.exe, ServSB.exe, MailSrv.exe

Client:
CLMNG.exe - Updated: July 12, 2005

3. (BCM) After starting the VCM Server, I get the error "Registration Failure - 22" - Top

This error is caused by not having a free LAN CTE license on the BCM.

Solution:
Log into Unified Manger on the BCM. Click on "Services" then "Lan CTE Configuration". Be sure that "Alow Lan CTE Desktop Clients" is enabled. Click on "Licensing Information" tab and be sure that "Permanent Licenses" is greater than "# of Active Lan CTE Desktops" - Updated: January 5, 2005

4. (Norstar) After trying to launch VCM Server, the following error is presented: Norserv Error “Registration has Failed” - Top

There is a communication problem between VCM software and the Norstar.

S: Check to see if a firewall has been installed on the VCM server. VCM cannot operate with a firewall enabled. Firewalls can be checked within the network settings of the operating system or in some cases within Firewall or Anti-Virus software installed on the computer.

S: Verify your CTA has connectivity with the Norstar by checking that a Norstar telephone works in the CTA phone output port.

S: Try another communications port on the computer. Try temporarily disabling any internal modems that may conflict with the Com port. If a conflict exists, contact your computer Administrator to resolve it.

S: There may be some corruption to do with Norstar and the ability for CTA to communicate. Reboot the Norstar during non business hours.

6. (Norstar) After trying to launch VCM server, the following error is produced: “Norstar CTI Message” “Unable to open the requested CTI device. The device is being used by another application, disabled or not present on the PC”. - Top

Communication to the CTA (Computer Telephony Adapter) hardware is not possible.

S: Check that you have an available Com port properly configured in Windows Device Manager. Check that the supplied serial cable is securely connected between the CTA device and the computer. Check that the red power LED is lit on the CTA 100 hardware. Restart computer

7. (Norstar) After trying to launch VCM server, the following error is presented: “Norstar CTI Message” “The device driver for the requested CTI device is not installed. Install the device driver and restart the application”. - Top
