Company History
CALL Link, ConverTec's original CTI product, was originally conceived and patented in 1992 as a telecommunication-signaling interface for computer systems by Digital Systems Group Inc. (DSG) based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. In 1995 DSG ceased to exist and in 1996 the license to the technology passed to WestBau Technologies Inc. of Saskatoon. In 1998, WestBau Technologies relocated to Oakville, Ontario, Canada which was followed by a complete redevelopment and launch of WestBau's primary product, CALL Link for Norstar. In late 2000, WestBau applied for transfer of its registration as an incorporated company from Saskatchewan to Ontario and as of February 14, 2001, WestBau became an Ontario registered company with the new name, "ConverTec Inc."
September 2001, a new product emerged, Visual Call Manager (VCM). VCM was an overnight success doubling expected sales in the first three months of its release.
February 2002, ConverTec escalated its relationship with Nortel to the highest available level by becoming a Nortel Developer Partner. The Developer Partner Program is a synergistic relationship between ConverTec and Nortel. The benefits realized by Nortel and ConverTec are; shorter development cycles, identification of new market opportunities and faster time-to-market.
Late 2002, saw a couple of major developments. Nortel retired two products; PC Console for Norstar and the Attendant Console for the Business Communications Manager (BCM). Nortel
designated ConverTec's Console.NET as a "Select Product"
and the official replacement product. Console.NET was and currently
still is, the only real-time web based call control
application in the world.
Itel of England partnered with ConverTec in 2003 to
provide distribution, sales, technical support and training for
Console.NET in EMEA and APAC regions.
2005 saw the beginning stages of a new server
platform that would support multiple BCM's and multiple
applications. This new server platform is called
"ConverTec Communication Server" (CCS) and today supports
a suite of new applications such as; CALL Analyzer, CRM
Integrator and CALL Navigator. Customers can
select from this a la cart suite of applications to improve
communications and telecom management within their organization.
In October 2008, Nortel announced a new level of
Developer Partner called "Strategic Partner" and
included ConverTec as one of four companies that hold
this designation. A Strategic Partner is one that
provides solutions that Nortel deem significant in the
value they provide their customers and the complimentary
way in which they achieve this. ConverTec Management Team
